about

This album was originally created as a dance score in 2000 for Carol Brown and Esther Rolinson's collaborative work at the Corn Exchange, as a part of the Brighton Festival.
I am especially fond of it; it was recorded at a strange time, I had no studio or instruments so I used my Dad's Atari computer (souped up to 2Mb from 500 bytes!) a 2Mb EMU sampler, a borrowed arch-top guitar and I managed to persuade Melanie Armitstead, soprano, to come and sing one afternoon.
At the Corn Exchange I had the speakers flown above the crowd with the bass bins on the floor (the piece used huge metal plates throughout the space as part of Esther's design). It's still one of my favourite scores, 21 years later.
